Wondering what activated charcoal is? “Activated” charcoal refers to a specific treatment that changes charcoal’s internal structure, reducing the size of its pores and increasing its surface area. During this process, charcoal is treated with oxygen at very high temperatures to make it more porous. This results in an odorless, flavorless, fine black powder. Activated charcoal can be sold as is or made into activated charcoal capsules.
